About this site
silverrailchildrensfund.org is published by Silver Rail Children's Fund, an Oregon public benefit nonprofit corporation (Oregon Registry No. 264524597, Tax ID 43-2607169). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the site; you can still reach us at hello@silverrailchildrensfund.org.
Information, not advice
Everything here is general information from volunteer parents. It is not legal, tax, financial, medical, or mental-health advice. Our Crime Victims' Compensation guide is a plain-language summary of a state program we do not run; the Oregon Department of Justice makes every decision about that program. For advice about your own situation, talk to a qualified professional.
Donations and tax status
Our own application for recognition of exemption under Section 501(c)(3) is in progress. Until the IRS grants it, contributions made directly to us or through GoFundMe are not tax-deductible; if granted, exemption is retroactive to our incorporation date, October 23, 2026. Tax-deductible gifts can be made through VictimsFirst, a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 32-0656956), designated for the Silver Rail Children's Fund; VictimsFirst issues the receipt for those gifts and passes 100% through to us. We provide a receipt for every gift. Donations are not refundable except where required by law or by the policies of the platform through which you gave.
Eligibility and support decisions
Who is eligible for support, and what the fund pays for, is governed by the fund's bylaws and the decisions of its independent Disbursement Committee, as described on this site. Nothing on this site creates a right to any particular payment or benefit. Support depends on available funds.
Your conduct
Don't use our forms to submit false information, to impersonate anyone, or to harass, threaten, or harm anyone. Don't try to break the site, scrape family data, or interfere with the forms. We may remove any submission and refuse service to anyone who does.
Content and trademarks
The text, graphics, and name "Silver Rail Children's Fund" belong to the fund. You may share links to any page and quote reasonably with attribution. Sponsor and partner logos belong to their owners and appear with permission. Some photographs are from Unsplash under its license. Please do not reuse our name or logo to raise money without written permission from the board.
Links to other sites
We link to GoFundMe, Google Forms, sponsor websites, news coverage, and government programs. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or policies.
No warranty; limitation of liability
The site is provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate but can't promise it is error-free or always available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Silver Rail Children's Fund and its volunteer directors are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Deschutes County, Oregon.
Changes
We may update these terms; the current version with its date is always at this address.
